Nasheman At SuperSalt 2019

Nasheman At SuperSalt 2019

Ever since it was founded almost 5 years ago, Salt Arts are esteemed amongst the Pakistani youth for their back to back music events. Whilst being a platform for local artists to play their music and sing their hearts out, they have also hosted international artists such as FDVM. From hip-hop to pop to Electronic Dance Music, they have something for everyone. Amongst the many events is their yearly flagship event called Super Salt.

This time, there was something different at this flagship event, a pop-up store appearing out of thin air had the attendees in awe. Enter Nasheman, Waqar J. Khan’s start-up project of taking on the universal battle against climate-harm through fashion. If you were at 2019’s Salt Art event we can bet you didn’t just pass by the Nasheman stall without stealing a look at the items on display. The first thing that you probably picked up are the sustainable yet sexy walnut and bamboo sunglasses hand-worked by the artisans of Kashmore and if you liked them, you share this feeling with headliner Meesha Shaafi who was pictured rocking them in indigo blue. You’ll then find the hand-printed scarfs and Ghost-net jewelry demanding your attention; not even star-performer Minelle. V from Sunraz was able to resist their charm. Models like Mushk Kaleem, Eman Suleman and Vardah Aziz and stylist Mariam Azmi also dropped by to give the collection a try which also included a clothing line of hand woven Khais weave fabric made from GOTS certified organic cotton, tote bags and cushions in bori fabric in natural dye from the artisans of Bhit Shah in Sindh.

Founder of Nasheman, Waqar J. Khan had a few words to share on the launch. He stated, “Salt Arts 2019 was a great event to launch Nasheman and creating awareness in sustainable fashion in Pakistan. The country has responded to it with great feedback in words and in sales.” Although there is still a long way to go this is surely a step-forward in the direction of achieving a sustainable future for Pakistan and representing on the global forum. We’re going to end this note with expressing our eagerness to see what more Nasheman has in store for us.
